UNKNOWN BANJO
this banjo was made around 1875 - 1880, it has ivory keys. the neck is one piece of cherry and the drum has a spun metal surround but no ring on the top. the skin comes straight over the timber. It has a 10.5" head with 38 plugs, an ebony tail piece. this is a real old time sounding banjo. the tone is chunky but very clear. |
Bazaar 5 string banjo
5 string banjo, which was sent to me from rob in Southern Ireland to bring back to life.
It was basically just a skeleton
The hoop liner is Australian snake wood and has been recovered in 0.5 stainless steel by hand
The hooks and nuts have been hand made along with the tension ring which is also made out of high grade stainless steel
Its now refurbished and plays like a dream
There are some letters on the perch pole but very difficult to make out. it looks like S B or J B.S.....
The date is around 1860 - 1870
